Matthew Greenberger, Citigroup Inc.’s global head of real estate, gaming, and lodging, has left the firm, according to sources familiar with the matter. Greenberger, who had been with Citigroup since 2004, played a significant role in advising on high-profile transactions for companies like Digital Realty Trust Inc., LifeStorage LP, and Brandywine Realty Trust.

In Greenberger’s absence, Paul Ingrassia, another long-time Citigroup real estate banker, will serve as the interim head of the division. A Citigroup spokesperson declined to provide additional comments on the departure, and an email sent to Greenberger’s work account was returned with an out-of-office message indicating that he is no longer with the firm.

Greenberger’s exit marks a shift within Citigroup’s real estate division. He was recently named as part of the Investment Banking Operating Team, a group formed by the bank in October. His leadership in the real estate, gaming, and lodging sectors helped guide the firm’s advisory services in the industry for nearly two decades.
